Tiger Photography Tours (Plan II) 12 days and 13 nights. Delhi - Bandhavgarh tiger reserve - Kanha tiger reserve - Pench tiger reserve - Delhi |
Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve : Surrounded by the Vindhya hills, this tiger reserve is a paradise for wildlife viewing and photography. One of the well protected reserves, the tigers of this park have been studied very carefully. Once a hunting reserve of the royal family of Rewa in more recent times, Bandhavgarh was declared a park in 1968. The famous white tigers of Rewa were discovered in these jungles. Wandering through the Bandhavgarh national park on an Elephant Back, the chances of seeing a tiger are quite good. About half the Bandhavgarh park is covered with fine trees of Sal, while mixed forests are found in the higher reaches of the hills. Stretches of bamboo and grasslands extend to the north. Among the other wild attractions include, Nilgai, Chausingha, Chital, Chinkara, Wild Boar and a Jackal.
Mythologically, the fort on Bandhavgarh hill is believed to be built by Lord Rama for his brother Laxman, during the Ramayana period. There are a number of man-made caves (35) in Bandhavgarh with inscriptions and carvings, which date back to 129-168 A.D. Statues of various incarnations of all and attracts every tourist. These statues date back to 10-11 century A.D
Kanha Tiger Reserve : Immortalized by Kipling’s storybooks, Kanha today stands as one of the prime habitats and protected areas for the Bengal tigers. The diversity of species in this park is astounding and even today, the reserve boasts of incredible wildlife teeming with great landscape. Kanha's Sal and bamboo forests, rolling grasslands and meandering streams stretch over 940 sq km in dramatic natural splendor. Besides harboring a viable population of the tiger, Kanha has distinguished itself in saving the endangered hard ground barasingha from extinction, and supporting the last world population of this deer species. There are two ways of enjoying the park – one by jeep and the other on elephant back. A jeep will contain one driver and one tracker/guide who work together to interpret the sights and sounds of the jungle and provide you with a good opportunity of seeing a tiger.
Pench Tiger Reserve : India’s 19th Project tiger reserve is famous for its vistas and views apart from its famous inhabitants, undoubtedly the Bengal tigers. Located in the southern boundary of Madhya Pradesh, the tiger reserve is named after the river Pench that flows from North to the South through the park. Pench stands out for its pack of wild dogs, which at times could be incredibly unbelievable numbers! As a prey concentration is high along the Pench River, tiger usually inhabits this belt. Leopard though generally operates in the peripheral areas but is occasionally seen in the deep forest also. Jungle cats are commonly seen. Leopard cats, small Indian civets and palm civets are common but seen rarely.
