National Parks and Sancturies

The Volunteers/interns have a choice to pick from two types of accommodation ie., host families and a volunteer/intern camp. The host families are in Bellary, Hospet, Sandur and Hampi depending upon the project. Most of the host families are lower middle class who may not provide you with luxuries but simple necessities like electricity, hot water, fan, television and telephone ( to receive the call) will be provided. The food and accommodation would be basic. We take care to see that the place provided to you is hygienic, but not the same as in developed countries. This is all part of the experience. Generally there is a provision to have upto 3 volunteers/interns in a host family. The hosts may be teachers or employees in government or private organizations. They are educated and well respected in the society and many of them speak or understand English.

The volunteer/intern camp is a rented house or the SBF camp (which the foundation hopes to build very soon). The rented house has an accommodation for around 8 to 10 volunteers and a full time cook takes care of the food . The house has clean toilets, electricity, running hot water and laundry facilities. The house is in the town limits and the volunteers/interns have an access to the local market, hospitals, bus and railway station, internet cafes , telephone booths, churches, temples and mosques. The cook is also a care taker and is very handy in times of emergency. Boys and girls are accommodated separately.
